Today I received official notification that the Apostolic Visitation of US Seminaries and Houses of Formation will occur at SHMS October 16-21, 2005. On the evening of October 15th, all formation personnel and resident priests are to be available to the Visitors beginning with Dinner at 5:30 p.m. To quote the letter: "This time with the community...includes initial introductions and acclimation to the host institution." Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz, Bishop of Lincoln, is Chair of the Visit.
Sounds good to me!
Just thought some folks would be interested. Don't know if it is known that Bishop Bruskewitz is the chairman of this visitation. Sorry if this information is redundant.
The slap-down begins.
Wow!
Wow!
I'm happy.
Not the kind of happy where you hold hands and sing a round of Kum-By-Ya.
But happy.
Especially if it means that he gets to write the report that undoubtedly will get written. Then I'd be ecstatic.
Dear Diva,
Kewl!!!
Perhaps this is the warm-up to an appointment to a new position as Archbishop of Washington????
I can hope, ya know!

Happy? No! We are THRILLED, EXHILARATED, JUBILANT and OVERJOYED!
" In the weeks since Bishop Fabian W. Bruskewitz of Lincoln issued a formal warning to Catholics who belong to groups which are opposed to the Catholic Church that they are in danger of excommunication, the flurry of national press attention to this unprecedented action has not abated. "
An Interview With Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz
Solidly orthodox! Great news! Thanks for the post and ping.
Maybe I am mistaken, but reading the press release it seems as if Bishop Bruskewitz is only in charge of one visitation lasting four days in September. Am I reading the story wrong? Is SHMS in his diocese (is that an individual seminary) in which case he chairs the inspection of his own diocese, which doesn't bode well for other inspections.
Most excellent!
I found this background article:
http://www.catholicnews.com/data/stories/cns/0406801.htm
It doesn't say the names of the visitors, other than that 75 names of bishops have been submitted.
SHMS is in Michigan.
Ok, so Ratzinger is visiting seminaries outside his diocese. Hopefully he will visit LA!
Joyful step-dancing all around!!!!
Interesting...and not entirely unjustified... :-)
We're happy. This has potential.
This does look promising.
