Where I come from, the media only reports the accidents that result in a fatality. Injury accidents only make the news if there has been some sort of toxic spill associated with it. Thank God the media hasn't found it newsworthy to talk about each and every accident that happens on a daily (or nearly daily) basis.

Where I come from the online newspapers and tv stations most certainly do report every accident. Our newspaper online has a traffic cam link and traffic incident update meaning any and all accidents.

As to the area in question, here's The St. Petersburg Times. If the accident happened the way it was described here it would have made the papers. Vehicle going airborne, put in park and keys pulled out and miraculous survival, other vehicle allegedly involved half a block away? Cops and paramedics were supposedly on the scene per the opening description on this very thread. You betcha it'd make the news.

In my area I have seen horrible accidents, with people airlifted to a hosptial. Yet not a word even in the local free papers. There are people with too much time and no hobbies or serious interests whose idea of excitement is to read about every fender bender. How pathetic.
