Why not just split?

Although I agree with you that it's long past time, for a cradle Anglican it's not a matter of "just split", any more than it's a matter of "just whack off the leg and it'll all be fine." There's part of the Anglican identity that'll be lost with it, especially since Mother Church is no very clearly part of what'll be lost -- even though dear old Mother has become demented, deranged, a threat to herself and all around her, and in serious need of being shut away.

I am now thoroughly convinced there will be a split (as if I wasn't already). But it is going to be very painful for those involved.

Well, it is. But, you should get some good lawyers to make sure your property rights are secured. Although these recent events in England seem to make things even more complicated. It just astonishes me how destructive the homosexuals are being.
