There's a very simple way to determine, and to demonstrate the true feelings of Episcopalians..You know how, at weddings, the bride's guests sit on one side of the church, the groom's on the other..Well, let's pick a Sunday in September...call it "Demonstration Sunday" and in every parish, ask those who are comfortable with the GC decision on Robinson to sit on the , of course, left side of the aisle..those opposed to it, on the right side..
"Some 26 percent have officially left the Episcopal Church since General Convention in August 2003. They voted with their feet was the dominant protest.
Of those who have left, 91 percent have gone to Anglican parishes. They are Anglican Communion "heartwood." They started their own parishes or found good "Continuing" parishes to join. Most expect to be affiliated with the Communion in the near future."
This rather describes what I did in June 2004 - voted with my feet. I left the half of the remaining small, conservative Anglican congregation, because the other half left with the priest who voted with his feet to form an Anglican Catholic parish. I still love and respect the congregation members that I left, but I couldn't go along with them under the leadership of the new priest, a liberal, who the liberal bishop appointed. They didn't see the danger in this. Anyway, they didn't have a choice because there were no more conservative priests available. Conservative priests have been resigning to join Anglican remnant churches. As I've said before, the bleed continues in this urban diocese.
Shhhhhh...don't tell them there's a major ZOT! heading their way. When they actually feel it, watch the brave souls jump ship and leave the mess for the remnants. It appears to have already begun in the ELCA, the ECUSA's kissing ecumenical CCM cousin.
