"Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent." -- John 6:29

May I complete the John 6 thought?

Jhn 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
Jhn 6:38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
Jhn 6:39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
Jhn 6:40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

Jhn 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
Jhn 6:45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of ( from ) the Father, cometh unto me.
Jhn 6:65 And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.

"May I complete the John 6 thought?"

Eph. 2:12, "That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:"

So according to your position, Paul was not being truthful with the Ephesian believers because in reality, since God had elected them from before creation, they were never without Christ since they had been given to Christ before the foundation of the world; they were not strangers from the covenants of promise since they had been promised to Christ; they had hope since they had already been drawn by the Father; and they had God with them since He was going to give them to Christ whether they wanted it or not.

The decision had already made for them so how can Paul, with a straight face, tell them they were at one time aliens from the household of God, when they were never lost according to your logic. All that the Father had given to Jesus will come to Him and He will not lose anyone, so how can he say they were lost at any time? It is impossible for them to die before they trust Christ for their salvation so how can they have no hope?

Paul does not say "you believed you were aliens, lost and without hope". He says you were.
