The Washington Office of the Presbyterian Church (USA) is urging Presbyterians to support legislation in Congress calling for the withdrawal of U.S. troops in Iraq.
In an e-mail sent to Presbyterians around the country, the Washington Office says the bill introduced by a "bipartisan coalition in Congress" calls on President George W. Bush "to set a plan for beginning the phase-out of U.S. troops in Iraq."
Asking Presbyterians to "edit and change the sample letter to make it your own," the Washington Office urges Presbyterians to "call your representatives and senators and urge them to support legislation requiring the Bush administration to provide a detailed plan for supporting Iraq's transition to a fully independent and stable democracy, including a clear timetable for the reduction and full withdrawal of U.S. forces."
The e-mail message ends by saying that, "Every message sent to the House and Senate makes a difference" and "Individualized letters have the strongest impact."
Oh ... when did the Presbys become pro-terrorist?
Aw, they are the worst! Pro-abortion, pro-Pali, anti-War... what else? Feminist to the max.
And I'm ashamed to say this is my denomination. As is the case with a lot of mainstream churches, the individual congregations (mine in particular) are much more conservative than the nutty left-wing leadership.
Only the PCUSA, Prebys.
The draft report from the Peace, Unity and Purity commission is due out in that section of the PCUSA web site in the morning (21st)

I'm sure the leadership thinks every right thinking person would support their call for retreat and abandonment of the Iraqis. Visionary long term thinking. Maybe they should just surrender now and report to their local imam for instructions on being a dhimmi.
The e-mail message ends by saying that, "Every message sent to the House and Senate makes a difference"
Well, that's true. They might not anticipate the message being that most congregations are opposed to this bill but it certainly would make a difference. (The bill would be buried deeper than it already is. It's going nowhere.)
