Thanks for your support, leader of the Church of England.

When I learned this morning of the horrific bombing of London by terrorists, I grieved and prayed for the country and the victims, and then I thought to myself, "I wonder what ridiculous crap the Archbishop of Canterbury is going to spout about this?" He didn't disappoint me.

“As it happens I have spent this morning with Muslim colleagues and friends in West Yorkshire; and we were all as one in our condemnation of this evil and in our shared sense of care and compassion for those affected in whatever way.

“Such solidarity and common purpose is vital for us all at this time of pain and sorrow and anger."

Pleasant sentiments, no doubt, but where is the indignation that these barbaric acts were deliberately hurled against Christians and the whole of Western Civilization in a very deliberate and calculating manner? Why did Rowan Williams continue to sit and drink tea and have polite ecumenical discussions with Muslims while his own nation was being attacked? Did he ever leave to tend to the dead, the dying, the injured or the families thereof? If he did, I don't see THAT reported in the media. The only thing I see reported is that, at the time his (largely) Anglican countrymen were being murdered, he sat with a group of Muslims, shook his head and said "tssk tssk."

If I am wrong, please someone prove it to me, because I want to be proven wrong. Otherwise, I am personally convinced that the A of C is guilty of what America's ECUSA is, which is sacrificing truth and theology for the sake of "unity."

London's Burning?
The Penitent Blogger, 7/07/2005

I think not.

Despite absurd claims to the contrary allegedly found on a pro-Al-Queda website/forum (which site, of course is now defunct), I doubt London is "burning with fear, terror and panic." Instead, I'm assuming, that albeit temporarily shaken (as is natural), the UK will live up to its historical reputation of resolve and national pride in light of this horrific attack against the citizens of the United Kingdom.

As a person whose religious faith is rooted in English history and tradition, and as a person who has always been an unabashed Anglophile, may I express solidarity with my British brethren, offer them my sincere prayers for their suffering and loss, and offer them my support during this tragic and significant time.

Tony Blair is quite right when he states that the British will not be intimidated to change their convictions and their freedoms by a band of murderous fanatical thugs. What I have been taught, and what I have witnessed, of historical British resolve reminds me of a line in one of my favorite episodes of Fawlty Towers, when Sybil insists that Basil apologize to certain guests -- and he retorts -- "Oh, Brilliant! Brilliant!. Is that what made Britain great? 'I'm soooo sorry, I made a mistake?' What do you think I have for brains, spongecake?"

No, England, in this instance you have not made a mistake. The terrorists did, by underestimating your integrity, resolve, democracy and national pride. You do not need to apologize, rethink your national destiny or make the mistake of whining, "Why do they hate us?" and "What did we do wrong?" as so many American non-patriots did after our own 9/11 tragedy.

Chin up, and may God be with you, and may we and all nations worldwide support you.

Sounds like reasonable words for a Christian to say.

LONDON ATTACKS: BARBARIC ACT AGAINST HUMANITY

VATICAN CITY, JUL 7, 2005 (VIS) - Given below is the text of the telegram sent by Benedict XVI through Cardinal Secretary of State Angelo Sodano to Cardinal Cormac Murphy O'Connor, archbishop of Westminster, Great Britain, after hearing news of this morning's terrorist attacks in London:

"Deeply saddened by the news of the terrorist attacks in central London the Holy Father offers fervent prayers for the victims and for all those who mourn. While he deplores these barbaric acts against humanity he asks you to convey to the families of the injured his spiritual closeness at this time of grief. Upon the people of Great Britain he invokes the consolation that only God can give in such circumstances."

As it happens I have spent this morning with Muslim colleagues and friends in West Yorkshire; and we were all as one in our condemnation of this evil and in our shared sense of care and compassion for those affected in whatever way.

As it happens, it is taken as perfectly moral for a Muslim to lie to an "infidel." This makes it difficult to gauge the sincerity of the Archbishop's "colleagues and friends."

Every d**n news report in the UK about these atrocities has managed to finish up with some jerk like the ABC saying: "But of course this isn't what all muslims are like because Islam is the religion of peace." (Barf)

Its time these craven appeasers picked up a Koran and read what this "religion of peace" is really about. We saw it in our capital today.

So what else is new? Did you really expect him to preach that Jesus is the only way to heaven and is the only One that can provide true comforting in such a tragedy as this?

He's been a political leader for years, but he hasn't been a spiritual leader in any sense of the word in recent memory, sadly enough. I wonder how much the Lord's heart breaks over that kind of thing.
