I Implore You, Please Stop [the ACC on North Korea]
Midwest Conservative Journal ^ | 6/28/2005 | Christopher Johnson

Hitting for the idiocy cycle, the Anglican Consultative Council passed this resolution on Korea:

Through a unanimously approved resolution, the ACC "expresses its profound concern about the deepening crisis in the Korean peninsula, consequent upon the announcements by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) that it is developing nuclear weapons and by the USA that it is contemplating the use of military force against DPRK in order to prevent this; believes that for the sake of peace in North East Asia and the world, armed conflict in the Korean peninsula must be prevented, and to that end the DPRK and the USA should renounce the acquisition of nuclear weapons and the use of military force respectfully and endeavor to resolve the present crisis through dialogue and negotiation; recognize that the origin of the present crisis threatening peace in the Korean peninsula and North East Asia lies in the division of the Korean peninsula into two states, and therefore supports and encourages the Anglican Church in Korea in its work for reunification of the two Koreas."

As Erik Nelson observes, there's absolutely nothing there about North Korea's horrific human rights abuses, its concentration camps or anything else that might be even remotely critical of Pyongyang.  The babbling dolts on the ACC suggest that both countries share blame for the Korean "crisis"("the deepening crisis in the Korean peninsula, consequent upon the announcements by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) that it is developing nuclear weapons and by the USA that it is contemplating the use of military force against DPRK in order to prevent this) and believe that both countries need to take steps to prevent it( "the DPRK and the USA should renounce the acquisition of nuclear weapons and the use of military force respectfully") thus equating the United States of America with the northern Korean entity, about as close to a Nazi state as you will ever see.

I used to think that official Anglicanism was something worth fighting for and worth preserving.  But if the official Anglican world is going to pass resolutions as morally bankrupt as this one and the one on disinvestment from Israel, then official Anglicanism can't die fast enough.

I didn't think that I could get more upset than I am over the homosexuality issue, but this stuff did it. The church's job is to "preach Christ risen to all nations", not to run the world. The church should be in the world, but not of the world. I can't believe the accelerating pace of self-destruction that we're all witnessing here.

DPRK and the USA should renounce the acquisition of nuclear weapons and the use of military force

Amazing, the US is equated with the DPRK...
