The Levites, the sacrificial system, the tabernacle, were all models to point us to Christ. Once Christ appeared they served absolutely no useful purpose, period.

We don't BEGIN to have enough information to hazard even 1/100th such a . . . brash . . . statement, imho.

God can have 100 reasons for a whole list of facets and aspects of the Old Covenant to dance arm and arm into the future together.

Glad to hear from you Quix. Hope you are having a good Saturday morning.

Quoting you: 'God can have 100 reasons for a whole list of facets and aspects of the Old Covenant to dance arm and arm into the future together.'

Well put, and I agree. Am just home from the last shift of an all-night prayer mtg. at my church. One of the prayer requests was for two members of the church who have gotten a marital separation.

My prayer was that as the God we serve is a God of covenants, may these people remember and allow Him to help them keep their covenant with one another.

I am no theologian, but I would like to share what my heart says about the levites and the old sacrificial system. We believers are no longer under the law thanks to the Lord Jesus' finished work at Calvary.

However, that doesn't give us the right to verbally trash what God used in the OT to reach out to His people nor they to Him.

I trust somehow I will get to meet Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, and Jacob-Israel after I have crossed to yonder shore. I look forward to it. Moses, Ruth, Hannah, Samuel, and many others too. I really hope so. I pray that as they sought Him with the incomplete sacrifices of the OT, that their hearts were prepared for when the Lord Jesus made the Ultimate Sacrifice and that somehow they were given an opportunity to avail themselves of that.

And when I do meet them, it won't be because I was at least smart enough to have been born after the Sacrifice of the Lamb of God, it will be because *my* heart also sought after God and received His provision to release me from the bloodguilt of my sin, allowing me a place in His eternal kingdom. That my heart, too, was hungry for the creator of the universe, the LORD, and He met me and showed me the way.

Our connection to Christ is one of humility, not of pride.

May those that have gone before us find us faithful.
