"we both see the potential danger of escapism in pretrib"

Why are you guys always picking on me. I think there's a song there. I think the greater danger is in the post trib, post mill and amill positions in that you get the "it just doesn't matter" syndrome since the times are not bad enough or good enough for His return.

That's why I said "potential." Not all pretribs fall into it. Many of my favorite commentators--Gary Barnhouse, Clarence Larkin, Chuck Smith, Chuck Missler, David Allen Lewis, etc.--are those who believe that the Rapture will be pretrib, but that there will also be pre-Rapture tribulation for the Church, even here in America. I have no quarrel with these, though I'll happily engage them in scholarly debate.

The concern I was voicing to Fru is with the pop-culture Rapturists (those who have never looked at eschatology at all beyond reading the Left Behind novels) who assume that life will go on uninterrupted until the Lord comes, or those who are so convinced that it's right around the corner that they cease to really plan for the future and to occupy until He does come.

If you're in the former group, we've got no quarrel, just a disagreement on a matter of theology.
