Why does God get angry, and punish people, when He knows exactly what they are going to do?

If He didn't want/allow them to do these things, why does He create them?

I don't believe we have a choice in our actions, because, if God does know what we are going to do before we do it, and if God cannot be wrong....then how can we do anything differently? I believe God knows what we are going to do, and the consequences of our actions, for years and years after.

***Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God***

Rock solid.

The Lord brought this verse to my attention very forcefully one time and it has made a lasting impression on me.

We often want to behold God's goodness - but not His severity. I'd like to see "All the Threats of the Bible" to go along with "All the Promises of the Bible"! :)

BTW - My little bro is on a cruise with MacArthur this week.

Speaking from a catholic point of view.... the writings of Saint Faustina, a nun and mystic who lived in the early 1900's, rec'd visions and claimed that God showed her hell. One thing she said that sent chills down my spine. She said that a large number of souls sent to hell, never believed in hell while they lived.

Jonathan Edwards' Enfield sermon ["Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God"] pictured sinners held over the blazing abyss of hell in the hands of a wrathful deity who at any moment was likely to let go, and so terrific was that discourse in its delivery that women fainted and strong men clung in agony to the pillars of the church.

Sounds like a lot of Free Republic religion thread posters, except that in their theology, God turns to ask their opinion first before deciding whether to drop the sinners into the pit. ;)
