Bishop Ullathorne died in 1889. The decree I gave you is from 1915. I'm sorry, but your arguments for rejecting it are exactly the same type that neo-Modernists use to reject the warnings placed on Teilhard's books, the decisions of the Pontifical Biblical Commission, etc. : "it's too outdated, we're too modern for that". I do not find this principle anywhere in ecclesiastical law. Please consult St. Thomas' comments in the Summa Theologiae on "epikeia" or disregard of a law due to a state of necessity, which he explains is valid only when it is impossible to ask the legislator for permission. Since the Holy Office is still around, you need to write to its head, Archbishop Levada, and ask for the decree to be rescinded before it can be licitly disregarded.

The second booklet, which gives more of the details of the Serect given directly to Melanie,is called:'The Apparition of the Blessed Virgin,on the Mountain of La Salette, the 19th of September,1846(also written by Melainie gone over and imprimatured by a Bishop

Would that be this book? When is the imprimatur dated, and which bishop?

THE LITTLE WORK IS CONDEMNED: "THE APPARITION OF THE VERY HOLY VIRGIN OF LA SALETTE"

And the same holiday and day of the Most Holy Lord. N. D. by the foresight of divine providence Pope Pius XI, in the customary audience of R. P. D. Assessor of the Holy Office has commissioned the report himself and approved the resolution.

Given at Rome from the Holy Office on 10th May, 1923.
