If not, might I ask where you got that bit from? It isn't anything that I have ever heard in any church I have ever attended. And yes, I went to Sunday school and have been confirmed and attend church.
I got it from the Bible. God produces His first discussion of the Gospel in Genesis 3:15, just after Adam and Eve fall into sin. God becomes the solution to man's every need, and in that moment, as man fell into sin, God immediately proclaims the Gospel.
So exicted were Adam and Eve about the prospect of a coming Savior, knowing He was coming of the seed of woman (ironic since usually it is the MAN that has the seed), so excited were they that they named their first son, CAIN, which means, "acquired" as in we've acquired he who will save us. Well needles to say, Cain wasn't the Savior. The Savior was to come many thousands of years later, Jesus Christ. But they made the mistake we often make, not seeing the plans of God in the way HE sees them.
Anyway the book of Genesis has the Gospel throughout... the oral story of it was handed down through their generations, so they all knew it. Now...
If Satan is going to do a counterfeit, wouldn't he counterfeit the real thing? Would anyone counterfeit a $14 bill? Nobody would take it, but Satan didn't do that, he distorted the real thing.
