What bible were these guys reading in the 3rd century? These are the guys that studied with the apostles. It is biblical, just not in your interpretation. As I said very early on in this thread, that is really what all of these types of arguments boil down to. You have your personally interpreted bible and that is it. Catholics have the bible that has been studied by church fathers and their knowledge has been passed on to us. Just like Jesus said he would do for us. We can be confident because Jesus gave us His church and apostolic succession to guide us. You may be able to sway nominal Catholics with your endless misinformation, but you won't get us. I understand your need and your right to come on threads like this and try to "save us heathens" but you are fighting a losing battle here. I wish I were better able to express myself!!
Side note...how do you find the time to be on here all the time?!? I have a very hard time keeping up!!! ;o)
God Bless you!

I am so frustrated. I typed up about 4 paragraphs of response to your post yesterday and some stupid virus or something in my PC caused it to lock up. I lost the whole thing.
You have touched upon many of the points that keep coming up in our debates. It starts with a disagreement on one of many doctrines and always heads toward who is more worthy to have an opinion. Your side claims 2000 years of history, Peter, being THE Church, and that the bible locks you into your faith in the church itself due to a couple of verses.
These are the very points I keep meeting and I'm wondering where to take it next. I think the next step for me is to go find the many warnings in the bible against false teachings entering the Church. So far I'm sure you would agree that the warnings are there and we would each be left pointing at the other as the ones that were out of line. So next I need to find the verses about the fruits and evidences of the false teachers. The first thing that comes to mind is the verse about "Forbidding to marry and commanding to abstain from meats".
My other post was so much better. What a bummer.
God Bless you too.
