How many are there? Where are they located? Got some statistics to back this up?
What about ordaining women as priests?
Over 200
Where are they located?
Mostly in conservative dioceses and in the Southwest.
Got some statistics to back this up?
No. But the local experience is that all of the parishes pastored by Anglican dispensation priests have experienced growth since these men arrived. Maybe they would have experienced growth anyway, but there are not hordes of Catholics marching out of these churches.
Catholics are not bothered by having married men in the priesthood.
NYer, I was startled about a year ago to hear that there are women priests in the Church. I was going to chalk it up to Urban Legend, except that it was a priest who told me. I'm still not sure whether I was dreaming or not as he did not divulge names or locations...just that they were there. The conversation ended pretty quickly because it was not the time or the place and because the priest and I don't see eye-to-eye on this issue. I, too, would like to know - just out of curiosity - where they are located to see "how its working out for them." It doesn't seem right, if there are women priests, that they are "hidden"...looks stealthy and even if women priests were a-okay, I don't think stealth is. I believe stealth was just one means that was used to pave the way for Robinson in the ECUSA. Just MHO.
I think St. Marks in Plano, Tx, has a married priest. From their web site, "Today, our parish has grown from 325 families in 1966 to over 10,000 in 2004." Plus a couple of new parishes have been split off. And, of course, some of the members probably are now worshiping with the priest who was fired when he decided to get married. He holds mass at a nearby high school.
