>God never gave anyone grace because they dropped 10% in the basket each week. <

It takes a special twisting of what was written to infer I said that.I simply made the point that ones giving was evidence of Grace and a result of Grace but not the source.

What a great problem for a church to have.

Put chairs in the parish hall and video the Mass to the people down there. At least they would be able to sit down.

"And church researchers estimate the diocese is home to 125,000 unregistered Latino Catholics, people who traditionally don't put their names on church membership rolls. "

unregistered=illegal aliens.

Mostly Mexican Marxists, very few actual Catholics.

That is not what you said. In any case, there is no Christian legal burden to tithe, and nothing in the Bible to suggest grace prompts us to tithe and that a lack of tithing is evidence of an absence of grace.

3 different millionares came to the Archdiocese about paying off the Debt for Notre Dame. Miada refused all of them. Two of those people had no strings attached. The third wanted to run the school. All offers are refused.

As someone who has worked in "development" (i.e. fundraising), I am cautious about ascribing bad motives to Miada's decision. There are always strings attached, and sometimes (for a variety of reasons) donations can not be accepted. But who knows...

I'm not sure, but I do know that Miada is not happy with the schools started by the owner of Dominos Pizza, Tom Moynahan. A parent in one of his Catholic schools told me about it.

For more on Tom Moynahan, check this out.

Buy Dominos, save a life. And be sure to tip the driver!

I'm looking for a reference to the tv story but can't find a single one.

All I have to say is I'm glad I homeschool!

"And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life." - Matthew 19:29

"All the ordained ministers of the Latin Church, with the exception of permanent deacons, are normally chosen from among men of faith who live a celibate life and who intend to remain celibate 'for the sake of the kingdom of heaven.' [Mt 19:12 .] Called to consecrate themselves with undivided heart to the Lord and to 'the affairs of the Lord,' [1 Cor 7:32 .] they give themselves entirely to God and to men. Celibacy is a sign of this new life to the service of which the Church's minister is consecrated; accepted with a joyous heart celibacy radiantly proclaims the Reign of God.

I'm a cradle Catholic and I've never ONCE been "surveyed" regarding Catholic issues. Who ARE these parishioners, and what else are they in favor of?

Even so, it's all moot because, according to Dr. Hoge,

"The Catholic Church cannot go on with the present trends."

We're doomed, then. Dr. Hoge said so.

So now God is confused? Maybe you're the confused one.

Why don't you quit analyzing and criticizing the Church and instead be an obedient Catholic. Or leave and start your own religion -- the "Church of Sinkspur" might work for you.

I am an obedient Catholic in areas of doctrine.

It is perfectly legitimate to discuss areas of discipline, such as mandatory celibacy for priests or the way bishops are chosen.

If you don't like my posts, simply skip over them. Lots of folks do.
