That's the problem I have with most apparitions: they seem to be more about scaring people than expressing God's infinite love for them.

Have you noticed a particularly negative and nasty spirit surrounding some apparition-chasers? For example, has this ever happened to you... You meet someone who is really into Medjugorje. They tell you that the Pope approves of the apparitions and you should get into them too. You point out that the Pope hasn't, and you don't want anything to do with Medjugorje or Garabandal or other such nonsense. So they say "I guess you don't believe in the Virgin Mary".

It's quite disturbing to see how some push private revelations as if they are public revelations to which everyone must render their assent.

It also does not seem to occur to those deluded by chasing private revelations that, while a particular private revelation may be authentic, what others report about it may be false or distorted. Neither do they grasp the following fallacy: because there are authentic private revelations, then all private revelations must be authentic. You can see this line of thinking in someone who says "Why do you doubt Garabandal? Didn't Our Lady appear at Fatima?"

I have no idea why you are bringing up "apparition chasers" in response to my posting about an approved apparition in Akita, Japan. I have noticed you are the one who has displayed "nastiness" on this thread, and other threads.

You haven't answered, my previous question, why do you have such an intense hatred of tradition?

When the visionary becomes bigger than the vision, then you know it's not of God. Some will say, "what about Sr. Lucia of Fatima - didn't she have a cult of personality?" And I answer, "Sr. Lucia became a cloistered nun, as far from the spotlight as humanly possible without ceasing to exist. Hers was no more a cult of personality than Mother Theresa."

The goal of Satan is to divide the church. There can be no worse fruit than disobedience to the Church. Garbandal and Medjugorje are extremely dangerous frauds. There's no reason to go to either place when Fatima, Lourdes, and Guadalupe are authenticated miraculous sites much more worthy of pilgrimage.

There are a LOT of strawman-argument folks on these threads.
