I thought they got rid of the whole condemned book thing?

Anyway what about the approved apparition in Akita Japan?

"The work of the devil will infiltrate even into the Church in such a way that one will see cardinals opposing cardinals, bishops against bishops. The priests who venerate me will be scorned and opposed by their confreres...churches and altars sacked; the Church will be full of those who accept compromises and the demon will press many priests and consecrated souls to leave the service of the Lord.

The demon will be especially implacable against souls consecrated to God. The thought of the loss of so many souls is the cause of my sadness. If sins increase in number and gravity, there will be no longer pardon for them"

Hey, lookie who approved them too!

"June, 1988—Vatican City—Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger, Prefect, Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, gives definitive judgement on the Akita events and messages as reliable and worthy of belief."

This is completely contrary to Catholic doctrine. Sometimes these "seers" get carried away and get off into the weeds with their hyperbole.

Nothing there about the Apostolic See losing the faith, though. To quote Constantinople IV again: since that saying of our lord Jesus Christ, You are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, cannot fail of its effect, the words spoken are confirmed by their consequences. For in the Apostolic See the Catholic religion has always been preserved unblemished, and sacred doctrine been held in honor

I cannot see how this solemn definition of Catholic doctrine, originally imposed upon the entire Eastern Church by St. Hormisdas and then signed by all the Fathers of the Eighth Ecumenical Council, can be reconciled with the view that the Roman Church (which is, to quote +Cyprian, the root and matrix of the Catholic Church), could ever "lose the faith", or no longer be habitually infallible in the acts of her pontiff's authentic magisterium.
