Seems to me it's really a question of whether WE can be worthy of HIM, rather than the other way around as some are asking . . .
You have truly hit the proverbial nail on the head!
On the morning of the pre-conclave mass, I sat bolt upright in bed at 4:30am, turned on EWTN, just in time to hear Ratzinger's homily at the Pro Eligendo Mass. When he said the following:
"How many winds of doctrine have we known in recent decades, how many ideological currents, how many ways of thinking. The small boat of the thought of many Christians has often been tossed about by these waves - flung from one extreme to another: from Marxism to liberalism, even to libertinism; from collectivism to radical individualism; from atheism to a vague religious mysticism; from agnosticism to syncretism and so forth. Every day new sects spring up, and what St Paul says about human deception and the trickery that strives to entice people into error (cf. Eph 4: 14) comes true. "
His words struck me like a lightning bolt, and I thought this man should be pope!
The Holy Spirit continues to guide the Church, despite the 'advanced' age of our new pontiff ;-D. The MSM don't get it but who the heck cares - we understand perfectly and welcome his humility with open arms.
We live in difficult times and need to surround Ratzinger with our love, affection and prayers. He needs us as much as we need him. May God grant him a long and healthy life. Viva Il Papa!
