I find both thinkers admirable. Platonism is more mystical and Aristotleianism is more rationable and true faith establish a synthesis and arrives at a balance between the two ways of appreciating God. One is through belief and the other is through the light of reason. Human beings will never completely grasp the nature of Divine Mystery as long they're are mere mortals but they can seek to imitate God's wishes on earth -
imitatio Dei in the language of the ancients. The lesson of periods of crisis in history reveals for us that when things seem bleakest, there is hope. And in these times when religion and faith are under attack from many sides, this is when hope aided by God, will come to our rescue.
