Weekly Mass Catholics couldn't care less who the Pope is, or what he says. They look to their pastor and bishop for leadership and direction.

Ha! You got it the other way around. The pastor and the bishops look to their flocks for leadership and direction. My guess is that the most agressive woman in your parish has more influence over the bishop than the pope did.

Since Sinkspur's Fort Worth bishop is the infamous Bishop Delaney who imported an "old pal" pervpriest from the Providence, Rhode Island diocese who was under fire for taking teenaged boys on unsupervised trips to the Caribbean and buying cars for them and placed that priest in charge of the Fort Worth Diocesan Boy Scout program (like a kid in a candy store!!!), it would appear that you are exactly right and that Bishop Delaney listens to any sort of dissident or pervert or "aggressive woman" of heterodox views before listening to the recently deceased Holy Father.

Bishop Delaney apparently "apologized" after the fact. Of course, the sheep are the shepherd's responsibility and exposing them to wolves like Fr. Rhode Island is not part of the job description. Cracking down on the heterodox in the flock IS part of the job description but Delaney apparently lacks the spine to do his job or the intellect or faith to understand the nature of his job.

It will take a decade or two of actually Catholic bishop(s) purging what and whom need purging after Delaney's departure, but the Church in Fort Worth can be restored. With God all things are possible.
