It appears that Dolan is emulating the Cardinal George theory of governance, which is loosely modeled on the JPII model.
Lotsa PR, lotsa handshakes, lotsa personal example of Catholicism lived...
But few, if any, 'crackdowns.' (Only one that's publicly known since Dolan arrived here...out of hundreds of possibilities...)
D. has also studiously ignored the Archdiocesan-permitted Tridentine Community, and I'm not exaggerating about that. That's inexplicable.

Any crack down is bad PR, since these guys protests are immediately amplified by the press. So we get priests who are less orthodox than John Calvin.more anti-Roman than any Anglican (but only behind closed doors.) :-(
