I was listening to a radio talk show and one of the callers brought up a good point

the radio talk show host was not Catholic and a previous host was not Catholic but she was impressed by the reverence they bestowed upon the whole issue of the Pope, his health, his life, his legacy and thanked him and the previous host....the host said, I don't have to be Catholic to see that Pope John Paul has been a great leader in a world of followers and that he has made a difference......

I was also impressed by the fact that a Muslim man phoned in and said, I don't think the Pope is just the father of the Catholics, I think the Pope is the father of the World and he is a great man for the world and we must all pray for him

well, blow me down, he better make sure Osama doesn't get his name and address.........

then a Jewish woman also phoned and said much the same thing

so I am impressed that this Pope has apparently reached out and touched people of all religions

I just heard that the Pope grew up in one of the few towns in Poland where the Jewish and non Jewish communities got along well and in fact the Pope's best friend growing up was Jewish

I don't know where the Pope has sided vis a vis the Palestinian Israelis crisis but I must say this outpouring of affection from non Catholics is certainly a measure of the man's greatness, even if one didn't agree with all his positions....
