Plus I just learned something.
ALso with the new trach it takes about 2-3 months for the patient to get comfortable with have a tube in the throat and it is NO FUN having the appliance taken in and out to be cleaned every other day. Very uncomfortable. Lidacaine helps but my son is allergic so he has to go cold turkey. It is an aquired technique to get it in and out without any trauma.
I change my sons feeding button that goes into his stomach and that is a piece of cake compared to the trach he says.
