It should be simple, then, for you to provide me with any objective evidence that the Pharisees and the Sadducees "did not know the prophetic scriptures".
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Isaiah 53:3
He was despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised and we esteemed him not.
Fulfilled in the Gospel of John 1:11
He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
Fulfilled in the Gospel of Luke 23:18
At the trial of Jesus, and as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their council saying, (Luke 67) Art thou the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, "If I tell you, you will not believe; (68) And if I also ask you, ye will not answer me, nor let me go. (69) Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God." (70) Then said they all, Art thou the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am. (71) And they said, What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth.
Luke 23:5 And they were the more fierce, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Jewry, beginning from Galilee to this place. ( This occurred when the Jewish leaders accused Jesus before Pilate)
Oh, so what you are claiming is not that they didn't "know" the prophetic scriptures, but that they (in your belief) "misunderstood" them.
