I am not changing any rules... I am telling it what is written in the Holy Scriptures. The virgin birth of Jesus Christ is the "miracle" of the birth. Jesus had to be born pure, without sin, and this is the way God through His Spirit atoned for sin of the world once and for all.
And no one but literalist Christians believe that. It is an article of faith in Christianity, completely out of steps with Judaism. It is closer to the birth stories of Dionysus (Greek traditional religion), Zoroaster, and Mithras than anything prophesied in Hebrew scriptures. Most Jews at the time and now scoff at it.
"Either Jesus was the Son of God or of the Davidic line."
HE IS BOTH.
In Hebrew almah means "young woman". Mary was a young woman, and also a virgin, and had not yet married Joseph, according to the scriptures.
1. Paternity defines tribal affiliation. Nothing in the Law makes this story feasible. Why would any Jew follow a story, whose premise is outside the Law?
2.So in your world, 3 is one, and babies have two daddies? That may be your faith, but it is hardly convincing to anyone who was not raised to believe.
Jesus always was. He is God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
I didn't by that argument of being born and always being with Greek deities either and neither did most Jews.
Genesis 26 reads: " And God said, Let US make man in our image. Who is God talking about?
1. The word for "God" in Genesis 26 is grammatically plural. (I can't write it out in a profane forum.)
2. The angels were already created. The "LORD of Hosts" spoke unto them.
I have given authentic scriptures to you. If you choose not to believe, then that is your choice. Many didn't believe Jesus when He came the first time either even after seeing the miracles he did. It is written in the book of II Corinthians Ch. 4, vs. 4 by the great Apostle Paul, who was previously known as Saul and who was a Jewish teacher of the Law and persecuted and killed early Christians, but was stricken blind on the Road to Damascus and radically converted after an encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ:
"But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: (4) In whom the god of this world (who is satan or the devil) hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine upon them."
(5)For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.
(6)For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
(7) But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
Paul wrote most of the New Testament, as he travelled many miles on foot throughout the entire area to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ, enduring great hardships and persecutins for His sake, and this is how the early Christian Church took root. And it kept spreading and spreading.
You may not believe. But these are eye witness testimonies that have been passed down from generation to generation. Dictators have tried to destroy the Word of God, persecuted Christians, and have done horrible things to us. But you can't hurt a Christian. If you kill us, we go to be with Christ. For us to live is Christ and to die is gain.
