The Diocese of Rochester announced Thursday it has placed Rev. Michael J. Volino on administrative leave following federal charges of trafficking child pornography. Father Volino is under house arrest and now required to wear an ankle monitoring bracelet. Federal authorities have charged Volino with possessing and receiving child pornography via the internet.

In the criminal complaint Father Volino admitted to the FBI that he downloaded the child porn. He admitted that he has an addiction to it and that he's been getting counseling for three years. “At this stage he has been charged with a crime based on the evidence presented in the affidavit that was submitted with the criminal complaint. The judge found that there was probable cause to believe that Father Volino has committed a crime,” said Assistant U.S. Attorney Rick Resnick. In the same papers, Volino told the FBI he knew what he was doing was wrong, but that he would never physically act out his addiction.

According to the FBI, Volino had hundreds of images on his computer. All were of boys under the age of 18 engaging in sexual activity.

The FBI says Volino did this from May of last year until he was caught in January.

Volino has been a priest since 1992 and has served at three different churches in Rochester. Since 1992 he has been a priest at St. John the Evangelist in Greece. The Diocese of Rochester says Volino is on administrative leave and that he is not allowed to engage in public ministry.

This isn’t the first time the Parish has had a problem. Past Parishioners accused another Priest Father Robert O’Neill of molestation. Last fall, the appeals court ruled the statute of limitations had fun out.

Counseling, eh? I'm sure that puts the demons to flight in a hurry. If there's anything the powers of darkness detest it's secular head shrinkers. That really makes them tremble.

"Some demons only come out through prayer and fasting" ....and this is one of them.

All were of boys under the age of 18 engaging in sexual activity.

This guy fits the profile, alright. It's homosexual child porn.

Who knows where this might have gone had not providence intervened and left him with a screwed up computer. God works in mysterious ways.

The "spring cleaning" continues.

This is getting silly. They just suspended the Fire Department Priest Chaplain here in Cincy because of some molestation accusation.

These guys would do their church a favor by knowing who they are and just putting in their retirement papers before the it hits the fan.

Think of the parishoners for a change.......no, no...not that. Sheeesh.

Yep, counseling that tells him its OK to have these urges, and that it isn't a sin to have impure thoughts. Probably directed to counseling by his diocesan Chancery after complaints from parishioners...
