Not exactly the sermon we are used to hearing today. No warm and fuzzy sentimentality, just Scripture.

You mean, no seeker sensitive "cotton candy" stuff? I hope it doesn't sour the cream in the designer coffee.
Christian.

What's always a little amazing (and scary) about reading these famous sermons and talks is frequency with which the same old questions are addressed. Today, 50 years ago, 100 years ago and 1000 years ago, people still question the sovereignty of God and reality of our final destinations.
BTW - I've been using his bible reading plan for years and I love it. You go through the OT once and NT twice in the course of a year. Very easy to use.

Why does God want revenge on his creations that are only doing what He knew they were going to do when He created them?

God will punish the wicked eternally is, because he loveth righteousness
A great truth Im only beginning to understand is that God not only loves righteousness but He demands it from us. This to me is a totally foreign concept. I was taught of a God holding our hands, hugging us when we fail, answering our prayers like Santa, and being our pal. I no longer believe this to be true.
God is far more interested in protecting and preserving His holiness. He does not come down to our level. We must climb up to His. We must be holy even as He is holy and that is what He has given us the capability to do. Our failures as His children reflect poorly on God. Gods punishment of Davids sin with Bathsheba was viewed by God as so severe because in gave the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme (2 Sam 12:14). And He sought to kill Moses for disobedience.
Im now only beginning to understand that we should never take our disobedience lightly nor our forgiveness for granted.

An excellent question.

Maybe one day you can ask him.

That's no answer. I hope I get that chance, but why not just say you don't have any idea?

but why not just say you don't have any idea? God is glorified in the redemption of the Saints. God is glorified in the punishment of sinners.

Why does God want revenge on his creations that are only doing what He knew they were going to do when He created them? God's standard of righteousness doesn't change, whether a single human being follows it or not. It isn't God's fault that mankind is sinful. We did that ourselves.
God has provided a way out, through subjecting Jesus Christ to the torment of his justice, to pay our penalty. God has done all that he can do consistent with righteousness and justice. The option remains for human beings - believe and be given mercy that you don't deserve, or don't believe and get what you deserve.
To: Frumanchu
Because they are gone from my life, but I don't get mad or want revenge because they died.
