"Well then why would he give us the Book of Revelation? or the Prophepts in the OT... To keep us in the dark?"

Off hand, I don't recall (or don't know).

But my study of C.S. Lewis taught me that we should live our lives as Christians without the "carrot/stick" motivators - ie. don't do good works to get into Heaven, do good works because its the right thing to do. Prepare your soul for God, not because you think the Final Days are just around the corner, but because you seek his love, unconditionally.

Many people (not you) are fervent in their religion merely b/c they are worry that Judgement is coming and they are afraid God will find them wanting. Thats not what Christianity is about.

Well I do try and live everyday the best to my ability as a Christian, but to me if I see an impending storm I don't close the blinds and turn off the T.V and radio because I want to be in the dark when it arrives, I look for signs I don't think GOD thinks we should be blinded to the end times if he does he would not have given us the Bible.

Lewis was, after all, just a man.

Here's a "carrot"...

"For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the archangel's voice, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are still alive will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words."

Specifically...

"...Therefore encourage one another with these words."

When you over-spiritualize Christianity (or over-psychologize it) you decouple it from one of it's great sources of strength - eschatology.

God put all that stuff in there for a reason, you know!

Amen. If we are compelled to turn to the Lord, it will not be lasting.
