Another rather funny irony is that when I met my bride, we were living in Lincoln, Nebraska. The diocese is very conservative, and when we went to church at each others churches, we could both do the liturgy.
Both the NO and the Lutheran DW (Divine Worship) use a variant of the liturgy of St. John (not sure which John). There are a few differences, but they are pretty much the same. When we started getting serious and sat down to talk to her priest and my pastor, they both laughed because liturgical wise the services were so close.
Now we live in easter Iowa, and the situation is a bit different. My church is very good (one of the Lutheran districts that brought back the crucifix to the front for the first time in almost 100 years!), but the local RCC doesn't even have a cross over the altar. So we drive 25 minutes to a bit better of a parish, and one without any sex scandals.
