There is none other commandment greater than these. At that time, that was true. And Jesus was talking to those under the law. But later, He gave a new commandment. Why, because the earlier two didn't cut it. They didn't result in salvation.

At that time, that was true. And Jesus was talking to those under the law. But later, He gave a new commandment. Why, because the earlier two didn't cut it. They didn't result in salvation. Okay, I see what you're saying, but I wouldn't go so far in the thought process as thinking that these commandments are not the greatest. These are the words of Christ after all. In order to have salvation this is the type of love we need to have. Luckily Christ died so that we can have his indwelling spirit that will bring us into this love.
But I'm not going to quibble about this.
