This is out of date, isn't it? I've visited some of the most liberal diocese of the country (NYC, Richmond, Albany, Boston), and it seems that the new GIRM, which requires kneeling from the Holy Holy Holy to the Great Amen, and again through the Centurion's prayers, seem to have been universally accepted. The odd notion of remaining standing in solidarity until everyone has received communion seems to have failed.

This is old, from '94. The theology seemed interesting and worthy of discussion.

Most of the parishes around me have no Altar Rails, have been uglified, and endowed with cheesy liturgists. If the new GIRM will spell out lots more reverence (and they obey it, natch) that will be good.

If they were kneeling in solidarity, that would be different. This was the norm in the Episcopal and Anglican Parishes where I came from.
