While this is not a blanket permission for "perpetual exposition" at parishes, the Vatican is clearly promoting frequent exposition and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament with a minimum of prolonged exposition and adoration "once a year" (i.e., Forty Hours).

I wonder if this goes on very often anymore, really.

A few little Churches in my neck of the woods encourage Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament regularly.

And I have to comment on, and commend the Parishoners in the Parish of my youth who fought the lay Council and the Priest with all they had, to prevent the destruction of the Altar Rail.

The Altar rail was, is, beautiful. Twelve small marble pillars, representing the Twelve Apostles, hold it.

The lay council and the Priest were probably more than a little miffed at the intransigence of the seasoned, tough, Parishoners.

Town councils trying to undermine plans for landfills coming to their areas are probably not as tough as these old birds. Did this Catholic girl's heart good to hear of it, and continue to see the beautiful fruit of their moxie.

When I was young, (college years in early 90s) I had never heard of adoration. Now it seems to be going on everywhere I turned. It is definitely making a comeback.
