I'm sorry but I couldn't disagree more. And I "have" to disagree, because to not speak up and voice my dismay at this practice would be wrong. There are some things we can't be silent about, and this is one of them. God is clear on this in His written word. Why do people think we can IGNORE His word? Because they want us to? Because it makes them feel better and fills a NEED they have?
Let me ask you this, why is it that only now, only today we see this being an issue? Why didn't we see it being an issue in the 30's, 40's or the 60's? Why now? Because it is politically correct now! (PC)
Mind you, we aren't talking about Joan of Arc's or woman who led crusades. We aren't talking about the Mother Teresa's of the world who've done amazingly wonderful acts of kindness and who have served our Lord so well. We are talking about women preaching in Churches. Women being the Ministers or spiritual leaders in churches.
We aren't even talking about women giving testimony in church (in my opinion). This is about LEADERSHIP!
And no.. a woman cannot do that.
Women deserve equal pay for a job done that men do. That is only fair and just. We can all agree on that. But the buck stops there. We have emasculated men and done so much harm to our society with all the rest of the feminism movement. We've harmed the family unit, and now we are destroying the churches.
TOTAL church communities are being destroyed!
Entire religions are in trouble and are in threat of collapse. Who would have thought that when I was a child of 10? (I'm 54 now.)
Who would have thought that today we would be discussing homosexuals having the RIGHT to be a Minister in a church? (Or a sexually active single person?)
When I was young it was UNHEARD of to have a female minister. When I was young the world was "right". It was safe to ride a bike down the street or even to your own school, which was a couple miles away!
I said it before on this thread and I'll say it again. The homosexual community can find verse and scripture to support them being clergy and even being able to be homosexual. You can TWIST the Bible and God's words any way you want. But it will never make it right. So now the women are doing the same thing with articles like this. It won't make it right, it is just "twisting" the Bible for their own personal wants and needs.
We all know what His original intentions were and are.
It's called "Spiritual Discernment".
This is why so many Churches are suffering such drastic reductions in people attending. That's why the churches in our area that once had FULL lots, are now suffer empty lots. These are issues that are dividing and even closing doors.
It is a huge fight between good and evil. One we knew was coming.
Good people are letting personal feelings and wants, get in the way of God's way.
I've spoken to many many Christians and we feel the same way. We know 1st Timothy and we know that it doesn't feel right in our hearts either. There is a "gut feeling" too. Even when we are women who've served our country and raised families. Women who are extremely strong by all accounts. When it comes to the Bible, we can't falter.
I'm sorry, but that's the way a lot of people I speak to feel. We know there are women who WANT TO serve in that capacity. That love the Lord and want to be "in front" that way. But God's laws are God's laws.
It "is" what it "is".
God Bless.

We will have to agree to disagree. I can not waver on what I consider to be doctrine of man interpreted without discerning the times, language and culture and events in which Paul's letter was written to Timothy.
I fail to see the difference in God raising a woman to lead an army of men, prophesy (give the word of God) to His people and to be a judge over His people than Him raising up women to lead ministries now. God raised a woman to lead when there were no men willing to lead. After Moses, Samuel and Deborah were the only two to ever bear this threefold mantle.
Paul was explicit in mentioning Euodia and Syntyche as women who contended "at his side" for the sake of the gospel. He was explicit in honoring Nympha as the leader of the church in her home. He was explicit in acknowledging Phillip's 4 unmarried daughters as prophetesses. Priscilla, Junia and, Phoebe were all mentioned and honored by Paul. Of the 40 that Paul mentioned in his writings soemthing like 16 were women. It is apparent that Paul considered these women of vital importance in their positions or else he would have rebuked them.
You mention the 30's, 40's & 50's as being void of women leadership. That is not true. Women have been instrumental in the 20th century church just as they have throughout the entire history of the church.
When I was young it was UNHEARD of to have a female minister. When I was young the world was "right". It was safe to ride a bike down the street or even to your own school, which was a couple miles away!
What does this have to do with women ministers? The world has not been right since the garden. It was just a little less bad then. The two have nothing to do with one another.
