What you call her summary of the verse is actually an introduction to it. You would do well to read more in the section "women in the early church."

This is a Nazarene Church theological site. I doubt that the lady is a liberal. She is relying extensively on scripture, and she appears to take it very seriously.

But, then again, I'm Methodist so I've run across REAL theological liberals just about weekly for years....most folks in evangelicalism see an open-minded conservative and only think they've just seen a liberal.

You may need to check yourself again. Although the site itself claims to be "Nazarene," it is called the "Wesley Theological Journal" and has as its first reference links to John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist church you call "liberal."

I love open-minded conservatives (and I consider myself to be quite libertarian). She is a liberal, though. It is possible you've let too many liberal teachings enter your mind.

[1] ‘This article is dedicated to Dr. Marie Strong, my mentor and model, who passed into eternity January 18, 1995, and is now enjoying her reward. As a minister of the gospel for sixty years and as a Bible professor for over thirty years at Church of God (Anderson) colleges, “mother” Marie lived out her ministry in a church body (Church of God) that has sought to be an expression of the vision this article represents.

The Church of God (Anderson) is hardly liberal.

Sadly, the Methodist churches in our area have all but fallen apart. Once full parking lots are now empty. They are too liberal and they are paying the price.

Homosexual clergy or sexually active clergy and this topic "women clergy" are dividing the churches.

We cannot reconcile 1st Timothy and women Clergy. (Amongst other scripture.) From the little of this article I did read *(and I plan of keeping this and reading it in depth) this article only adds substance to that argument. One can "twist" it any way they want.

But I will remind readers, the homosexual community tries to do the same thing this woman does with her article. They try to justify homosexuality biblically.
We are even warned in the Bible that this type of thing will happen. God's words will be twisted to fill the wants and needs of others.

Women "do" have a roll in the Church's. Just not as Clergy.
