YAWN.... Anybody remember the Vatican's visitation of the US seminaries and religious orders in 1984? A lot of good that did.

The Vatican visitations of the US seminaries in 1984 was a fact finding mission.......and it did find many very interesting things, which were reported back to JPII.

Now as to concrete results......well, there were one or two seminaries that were closed as a direct result. More commonly, there was some "window dressing" on the local diocesan levels, in some places. But much of it was to little avail. Too little, and way too late to save the vocation crisis.......or the rampant modernism and homosexual problems in the seminaries. The Vaticn DID make recommendations for "house cleaning" at that time.

But most local bishops merely did "window dressing" shuffling personnel around. Some did nothing at all. In most places nothing happened, and everything just continued to get worse.
