Diversity, celebrated

Father Nick (left, in the photo below) maintains a listing of America's most gay-friendly parishes, as well as other links that demonstrate his concern for the Faith.

The Archdiocese of Baltimore, to which Fr. Nick and St. Bernadette's belong, obviously applauds his style of outreach. Certainly he doesn't put his light under a bushel. For example, he posts an Easter Homily that serves as a bold challenge to the dangers, so rampant today, of Jansenism:

"Now you can admit your faults and not hide them. You can face who you are, because God says its okay. God is no longer our police. We can make mistakes, because that's how we learn when God is in our middle. This is freedom. God has come to set you free! You are now free to be yourself. It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Free to act according to your deepest DNA!"

There was a time when a priest was encouraged to keep his DNA to himself.

Now, that picture is almost too much. Really. Didn't the person behind the lens get the irony? "Gay priest with arm around pre-adolescent boy" can't you see the headlines now? Geesh.

Slavery to sin is not the freedom that God calls us to live. Of course we are free to pursue sinful lifestyles, but that is not what God calls us to do, nor what is best for us.

When I saw the picture, I thought it was a sick joke. Then I clicked on the link and realized it was the actual photo. Good God!

I miss the God of vengeance, retribution, and jealousy;

Oh, He's still here and he will have his say.

The parents of those boys are as culpable as anybody.

They should be promptly excommunicated, and if the Catholic Church fails to do so, it will take one giant step toward dissolution

I vote for dissolution. The Church will never dissemble the Pink Seminaries which dominate their "teaching" facilities here in the US.

Any man who lets his boy near these predators ought to have his head examined.

Anyone attending that parish is culpable. As for his bishop... See the parish website as I put on the first post (sorry if the link does not work):

Did you find a "gay" friendly parish near you?

Fr. Nick has an "ask Father Nick" section where you can submit questions. I submitted "Is homosexual activity sinful?" Ten bucks says I don't get an answer.

The boys may be related. I happen to know actual Catholic priests who have nephews.

Did you notice that was the same boy? He is wearing the same shirt as the other picture. Probably his first Holy Communion - what a travesty! To receive Our Lord (if He is present - I have reason to question the validity here) from a glass bowl in one hand from an openly "gay-friendly" priest. What a mockery of the faith!

I agree. The matter is suspect...looks like Cap'n Crunch.

That is supposed to be the Host? Looks like wheat thins to me, not the Host.

What a mockery of the faith!

I noticed that too. Don't worry though...God will judge...and God will not be mocked.
