Well, we're supposed to exercise faith when we pray. So if we ask for something we're supposed to believe. If I pray about something and then five minutes later, say "oh, it's never going to happen", then we're "binding" or preventing God to answer our prayers because of our unbelief and he commands us to have faith.

Jesus even said to the woman who touched his cloak that it was her faith that healed her. IF she had had absolutely no faith whatsoever and said to Jesus, I don't believe you can heal me, would Jesus have healed her?

I'm not trying to be confrontational, but I grow weary of people verbalizing things they DON'T want. Would you ever board a plane and "say" over and over "the plane is going to crash, the plane is going to crash"? I know I sure wouldn't.

I will give you an example and try to make it really short. My sister had cancer, and was having serious difficulty conceiving because they had radiated her abdomen. She kept trying and praying, but then would say "I'm never going to get pregnant". I told her to speak what she wanted and she did for probably one day and said that she felt weird doing it. So, I did it for her. Since God operates outside of time, and he knows what we're going to pray for before we do, it's almost asif the prayer is already answered before we verbalize. I started speaking out loud "my sister IS pregnant, my sister IS pregnant" over and over and in the present tense. And I believed in what I was saying. The doctor had told her she was going into early menopause and probably didn't even have any eggs left, she also had her fallopian tubes stretched through surgery so the egg cell would have almost too long of a distance to travel. However, with God all things are possible. I spoke it over and over..... and guess what? She conceived and the doctors were all mystified. Total miracle. God is waiting to give us all miracles, if only we would truly believe that he will do good things for us.

We are to pray that God's will be done. We can't limit him. My original comment was to point out the faliure of the American bishops. It was not meant to be self defeating. Common things occur commonly.
