Sad but true.
The floors of hell are paved with the skulls of bishops.
I must agree the language seems intemperate. But it was long overdue. Somebody has to challenge these so-called "spiritual shepherds" who are in the business of destroying the faith while pretending to do just the opposite. Jesus, after all, knew whited sepulchres and hypocrites when he saw them and used the same kind of over-the-top language when he had finally had enough.
Correction: "The floors of hell are paved with the skulls of [rotten] bishops. - St. John Chrysostom
gratias
The Church and the faithful both sacrifice too much truth in the name of civility.
I particularly relish the mental image of heretic bishops burning merrily at regular internals on the way, shedding a hellish anti-light.
So does James Bendell. He should tell us what he really thinks. ;-)
Great letter.
I hope Mr. Bendell and RCF have adequate security. The lavender mafia may decide they have had enough.
Frank and open commentary is a welcome relief from the usual "Bishop-ese" which means little and accomplishes less.
I am acquainted with a US Bishop who has openly (but not publicly) referred to a local priest as a "snake." So happens it is a true statement.
Truth is good.
Grrrrreat! Just Grrrreat!
I like it.
Beats the heck out of weak feminist spanking. Step aside.
It's scary, but for the most part I agree with the guy. Not all the bishops are bad, but some (ok, more than some) are downright dreadful. Leo XIII warned us, we didn't listen. Granted this is a small group of bishops who issued that piece of garbage, definitely the usual suspects (Pilzarchyk -- Cincinnati, Hubbard, etc). No surprises there.
How do you know which bishops issued this statement regarding "The Passion"? I haven't seen a list. I thought the list of bishops at the top of this letter might have been the ones responsible, but they are not the same as the bishops you mention.
Millions of Catholics agree with you. Particularly those of us in Cleveland where the Gay Pride Flag still flies on Bishop Pilla's website:

Participating in the meeting were:
For the USCCB: Cardinal William H. Keeler; Bishops Arthur J. Seratelli of Paterson NJ, John J. Nevins of Venice FL, Gerald Walsh of New York, John Nienstedt of New Ulm; Msgrs. Guy Massie of the Archdiocese of New York, Denis Madden and Robert Stern of the Catholic Near East Welfare Association; Reverends John Crossin, OSFS, of Washington Theological Consortium, Charles J. Parr of the National Association of Diocesan Ecumenical Officers, Lawrence Frizzell of Seton Hall University; Drs. Dennis McManus and Eugene Fisher of the USCCB staff; and Lauri Przybysz of the Archdiocese of Baltimore.

Gerald Walsh of New York is a Bishop.....Auxiliary??? That is news to me, and I am from there!
My only knowledge of him is that he is a Canonist (he has a JCD), and is pastor of St. Vincent De Paul Church in NYC on west 23 Street, which is a very old French national parish.
I had been given the (apparantly mistaken) impression that he was one of the "good guys".
So, I am not pleased to see him here, in very bad company, judgeing from the other Bishops on this list. None of the other Bishop's names are a surpirse to me - not one bit!
I just hope that "Bishop" Walsh does not frequent the building which is across the street from his church: the Grand Lodge of NY.
This guy was at the meeting on behalf of the bishops:
Why convert the saved?
Eugene Fisher
The Catholic Church does not support organisations which aim to convert Jews. Nor should it, argues the associate director of the Secretariat for Ecumenical and Interreligious Relations at the US Conference of Catholic Bishops. For the Church believes that Judaism is salvific for Jews.
