Actually, there's at least one Scripture which indicates I should
persistently avoid disputations
with . . . such . . .
attitudes . . . .
etc.
I think I'll obey The Scripture on this score.
This has gone on long enough. Both of you knock it off.
"OK Quix, what is the difference between looking for secret codes in Scripture and using a Ouija board?
I say to you there is none! There is no reason to search for hidden messages, there are none. To use such a method is nothing but pure astrology."
I am in agreement with you, GC
And there is also Scripture to say you should stick to the truth and avoid turning aside to Jewish and other cunningly devised fables.
"So, if you are part of the naysaying group--please bug someone else.
"Otherwise, if you want clarification on something specific, please FREEPMAIL me."
I thought this was a public forum for the free and open exchange of ideas and opinions.
Why do you feel the urge to win people over to your camp and play God?
No, thanks to your help for clarifications. Only God can answer my queries.
As to the Bible Codes, I debunked them years ago when this nonsense first came out. Oh, I did research the topic, and based on logic and basic statistics I came to the conclusion that it was bogus, fraudulent, fake and phony. As an example off the top of my mind, some asserted that the bible codes predicted the future. To predict future events, you'll have to know about the event itself beforehand. But if you dont know a priori the event predicted in the bible, how do you look for it? You can't because you don't know what you're looking for.
If the shoe doesn't fit, you must dismiss.
Quite easy to dismiss.
BTW, I suggest you update your research into the Codes and the latest comparative studies etc. You sound like you're in the dark ages on the matter.
I'm interested in discussing such issues with folks who discern The Lord in such contexts, issues, etc. and who want to discuss the spiritual merit, evangelistic merit etc.
I don't have much interest per se in getting folks to believe like I do on the Bible Codes. I don't think they are THAT crucial to much of anything.
I think that they are God's blessing and God's fun and whatever else He may unveil them to be in the not too distant future. They are extra desert. For most individuals concerned--except for their robbing of the people they potentially minister to of the blessings involved, for them to believe or not believe in the Codes etc. is not the end of the world by a long shot.
It's just not worth my bother and energy to try and persuade folks to believe.
ON THE OTHER HAND
I absolutely deplore the same arrogant, parochial, narrow, rigid, self-righteous RELIGIOUS leader HOGWASH ROBBING people of spiritual blessings just as occurred in Jesus' dusty pathed days. It grieves my spirit and more than annoys Holy Spirit within me.
I'm glad your true colors are finally revealed. Peddle your wares elsewhere as far as I'm concerned. Not interested.
Bye.
BTW, even way early in the Bible Code studies, all the better researchers and scholars
STRONGLY ADVISED against trying to use them to predict the future
while at the same time trying to have somewhat of an open mind as to what the Codes themselves would reveal--that is, not trying to put God and HIS CODES in their human box.
The same stance is essentially still intact today.
Yes sir.
Will do.
Periodically, The Lord has impressed on me that it's not wise to wrestle with certain types of critters--in addition to being a useless expenditure of bother and energy.
This has often left me feeling very torn between that press, mandate and an opposing one of "TO EVERY MAN, PROVIDE AN ANSWER."
I'm going to redouble my efforts to leave the lurkers more to God's Providence more of the time--and avoid wrestling with certain types of critters--regardless of their tweaks and regardless of MOST of their outrageous, inaccurate, dishonest, etc. statements.
I will be praying more for/about them, however.
I post these sorts of threads as a service to The Body of Christ and to discuss the issues related thereto with like-minded Believers toward mutual edification etc.
I don't post them for fruitless debate with naysaying tradition bound RELIGIOUS leader, 'traditions of man' types who seem to have less than a shred of logical consistency, openness, honesty or fair-mindedness about such topics.
There's a Proverb about never providing an answer to such persons and about providing an answer to such persons. I'll choose MOST OF THE TIME to follow the Proverb about never providing an answer to such persons. They aren't interested in Godly answers, anyway. They are only interested in conformity to their constructions on reality--regardless of how off the wall and unBiblical that they are.
Anyway--God's best to each and may we all grow in His knowledge and wisdom rather than in our own pontificated vanities.
Sincerely,
This is Amazing! The Mathematical signature of God! This is excellent!
Blessings to you
THANKS MUCH.
That's my perspective on it!
Brace yourself. The naysaying wolves disagree.
Don't get suckered.
The Naysaying wolves would be from Harvard among other places?
What do you mean "Don't get suckered"? Isn't this legitimate proof of the existence of God?
No, it's not. Grant Jeffrey has no expertise in this area. The "patterns" are mostly contrived, and prove nothing ther than the cleverness of the authors.
You're going to find this sort of stuff in the fringe Christians groups, like among the charismaniacs on TBN. If they spent as much time actually studying the Bible as they do searching for "bible codes" they'd be alot better off. Serious Bible students don't usually get suckered in.
There's enough proof in the actual words of Scripture to keep one busy for a lifetime or more.
Welllllllllllllll, the Harvard jokers would certainly be . . . values challenged enough; brainwashed enough; clueless enough; arrogant enough . . . . and to have long ago left the first values and purposes of Harvard light years distant enough . . .
But some of them likely didn't get into Harvard, much less out. LOL.
What is Grant Jeffery's educational background? Is he Charismatic?
Are all of these Bible codes that they pass around fake?
You're right about Harvard, Seeing as how it began as a Bible College and Seminary. Now all you've got in their "divinity" school (I use that term loosely with them.) Is theologians whose only specailty is playing fast and loose with the Bible.
Ironic, Isn't it?
His passion for research led him to acquire a personal library of over 7,000 books on prophecy, theology and biblical archeology. Grant studied at Philadelphia College of the Bible before entering the business world. He acquired a Chartered Life Underwriter degree in 1982 (University of Toronto Extension Program). In the late 1990s he earned his Masters Degree and a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Biblical Studies from Louisiana Baptist University. Grant was the editor of the Marked Reference Prophecy Study Bible published by Zondervan Publishing Corp. This project was his doctoral dissertation. Prior to entering full time ministry, Grant was a professional financial planner for 18 years with his own brokerage company in western Canada. (bio)Louisiana Baptist University was founded in 1973. It's a mail order college. If you look at most of the faculty, that have advanced degrees from, you guessed it, Louisiana Baptist University. Not exactly an academic powerhouse.
Jeffrey's credentials are hardly stellar.
