In need of a history lesson here. In the past, when a clear and present danger, on a similar order of magnitude presented itself, was the Laity as incapable of effecting a favorable outcome as it is now? Or is schism the only way out?

This is sickening, really sickening. When will we be freed from these Bishops. Thank God it is only a three year term, I just hope that the next Pope is rather more authoritarian than the current one (that is my big problem with this Pope).
