And what do you suggest that people tell the bishops?
All those who have made claims that "things are getting better," please report after class for remedial instruction. Things are not getting any better. This Trautman is one of the very worst of the bunch. He will make an excellent sidekick to the new President of the USCCB who believes the 52% vote gives him a mandate for further coverups of corruption, further stealing of the money and property of the faithful, further feather-bedding of the love nests of the sodomites in charge, and generally filing for bankruptcy not just for his diocese but for the entire American Catholic Church.
While he is busy robbing Catholics blind, Trautman will be stealing their Catholic liturgical heritage. I'm afraid the "do it yourself" Mass is far from over with Trautman running the liturgy committee.
But let's not forget that the Catholic Church is considered reactionary in Europe. The Europeans are far ahead of us on the downward slope. Signs of a "new springtime" breaking out are conspicuous by their absence everywhere in the world.
If there is anyone left who still believes that things are going to get better if we only stay the course, if the past 40 years of auto-demolition of the Church have taught you nothing, what will it take to wake you up to reality? You can look forward to 4 more years of status quo from your bishops. Until we see people like Skylstad and Trautman tarred and feathered, the Church will continue moving in only 1 direction -- towards the brink of extinction.
"Until we see people like Skylstad and Trautman tarred and feathered, the Church will continue moving in only 1 direction -- towards the brink of extinction."
Maybe this is God's way of driving the flock towards traditionalism. He's going to make things so hot that even many of the go-along get-along Catholics will reconsider traditional Catholicism, if only to regain some stability in their lives. The others will just carry on leaving the Church as at present.
Its time for trads to get militantly evangelistic! These developments can only serve to increase the relative numbers of trads in the Church - whichever traditional organisations they find their way into.
I've said it once, and I've said it multiple times, that if the Bishop is liberal, withhold all contributions. Give to the parish, and to any other charitable organizations, but give no money to the diocese or the NCCB.
If enough concerned Catholics dried up these Bishops' funds, they might notice our displeasure.
"The Europeans are far ahead of us on the downward slope."
I totally agree. As bad as the US bishops may appear, they're still ultra-conservatives compared with the arch-modernists Pope John Paul has appointed to Europe.
Unfortunately, when it comes to promoting priests our pope seems to put ecumania before all else...

Although I can agree with you on almost every word you wrote in this post, we will disagree (to a degree) on the last sentence.
Take two aspirin. Click on my name in this post and read the text from GKChesterton.
