The Army announced this week that Protestant and Roman Catholic chaplains will be brought together in a single, ecumenical chaplaincy department. Since 1920, the Royal Army Chaplains’ Department has been divided into two branches, the Roman Catholic and the “Unified” (representing Anglicans, Methodists, Baptists and other denominations), each with its own head. The new arrangement means there will be a single head of service, known as the Chaplain-General, for both Catholics and Protestants.
The next Pope must give greater authority to Roman Catholic bishops, Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor has said. Speaking at an ecumenical forum, the Archbishop of Westminster suggested that under John Paul II the Church had become too centralised. The model of the Pope governing with the bishops needed to be rediscovered, he said, if the Church were to be credible in the modern world.

Then why are they asking the POPE for more authority?
They have authority over choosing their clergy. They screw it up by ordaining and protecting homo pedos.
They have authority to require obedience from their clergy and they allow and encourage liturgical abuse and sacrilige.
They have authority to require theologians in their universities to obtain a mandate. They refuse to assume it.
I could go on and on.
It is obvious that most of these guys can't handle the authority they now have. To give them more would only compound the disaster we now have.
The cardinal's words indicate that he is part of the problem not the solution.
