Being that God has answered our prayers so graciously, and being that He has shown mercy on this nation this year and always - you are hereby invited to offer your praise to the one and only King of kings and Lord of lords for his bountiful blessings towards us. This thread will not be dedicated to requests - rather, it will be a two week period, culminating in Thanksgiving day, in which the people of God's blessings come together in praise towards Him and Who He is. Join us today!
Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor; and Whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me "to recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness:"
Now, therefore, I do recommend and assign Thursday, the 26th day of November next, to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country previous to their becoming a nation; for the signal and manifold mercies and the favorable interpositions of His providence in the course and conclusion of the late war; for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty which we have since enjoyed; for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enable to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national one now lately instituted' for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and, in general, for all the great and various favors which He has been pleased to confer upon us.
And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions; to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually; to render our National Government a blessing to all the people by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed; to protect and guide all sovereigns and nations (especially such as have show kindness to us), and to bless them with good governments, peace, and concord; to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and us; and, generally to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as He alone knows to be best.
Given under my hand, at the city of New York, the 3d dy of October, A.D. 1789.

FYI!
Praise God always amd forever more. And let us ask for His protection for our troops in Fallujah, and His protection of our British allies in Iraq.
Our gracious Heavenly Father... may the prayer of our first president be remembered in Heaven this day and may it be so in our country today. Turn the hearts of the people back to you.
This is excellent but it needs to go to Religion. (I like Region.)
I praise the Lord for His goodness, and for his wonderful
works to the children of men!
BTTT
I Thank the Lord for what he has given us in all blessings, and for the wise words of George Washington. The founding fathers' intent was always to make a free country, but one based on Christian principles. I pray we may return to such a country.
Count me in!
Thank you King of Kings. Glory and praise to your name.
Amen!
I love this!!!!
I am a "Praise the Lord" girl!
He alone deserves ALL praise for our lives.
He is Jehovah God! Our Creator!!!
Psalm 124: 1-8
1. "Had it not been for the Lord who was on our side,"
Let Israel now say,
2. Had it not been for the Lord who was on our side,
When men rose up against us;
3. Then they would have swallowed us alive,
When their anger was kindled against us;
4. Then the waters would have engulfed us,
The stream would have swept over our soul;
5. Then the raging waters would have swept over our soul."
6. Blessed be the Lord,
Who has not given us to be torn by their teeth.
7. Our soul has escaped as a bird out of the snare of the trapper;
The snare is broken and we have escaped.
8. Our help is in the name of the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.
Praise the Lord!
Hallelujah!!!!!!!
AMEN, AMEN, AND AMEN......
Thank you Lord, for not giving up on America. By re-electing the President, You demonstrate once again Your boundless love for Your people. Make us worthy of Your Trust, and empower us to continue Your work in the United States of America.
Now, please watch over those we love in harms way in far off places this day.
Thank you, Lord, for hearing our prayers and honoring our fasts. You are so awesome. Thank you for being so gracious to us.
Thank you, Lord, for being merciful to our country and allowing us this godly man, George Bush, to be our president for four more years.
Thank you, Lord, for allowing the lies to be uncovered and the truth revealed in the election. Please bless those who long to live by your laws and who honor family values. And please, Lord, open the eyes of those in this country who are so full of hate toward You, those who love you and all that is good.
2 Chronicles 20:
20 Early in the morning they left for the Desert of Tekoa. As they set out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, "Listen to me, Judah and people of Jerusalem! Have faith in the LORD your God and you will be upheld; have faith in his prophets and you will be successful."
21 After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the LORD and to praise him for the splendor of his [4] holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: "Give thanks to the LORD , for his love endures forever."
22 As they began to sing and praise, the LORD set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated.
23 The men of Ammon and Moab rose up against the men from Mount Seir to destroy and annihilate them. After they finished slaughtering the men from Seir, they helped to destroy one another.
24 When the men of Judah came to the place that overlooks the desert and looked toward the vast army, they saw only dead bodies lying on the ground; no one had escaped.
Beautiful...
I thank God for that sweet little two-year-old girl sleeping peacefully in her 'big girl' bed upstairs who turned to me today and said, "I love you very much Mommy!"
Very cool scripture! Very cool Lord!!! (Meant reverently!)
What a blessing for me, that my first post is to Praise God for His goodness and for bringing us through this election.
