Affirmation of Faith (All stand) Let us declare our faith in God.

We believe in God the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named.

We believe in God the Son, who lives in our hearts through faith, and fills us with his love.

We believe in God the Holy Spirit, who strengthens us with power from on high.

We believe in one God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Amen.

When something is revised it is always interesting to compare the new to the old. What is removed is more significant that what is retained. Below is the Nicene Creed.

----

We believe (I believe) in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, and born of the Father before all ages. (God of God) light of light, true God of true God. Begotten not made, consubstantial to the Father, by whom all things were made. Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven. And was incarnate of the Holy Ghost and of the Virgin Mary and was made man; was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate, suffered and was buried; and the third day rose again according to the Scriptures. And ascended into heaven, sits at the right hand of the Father, and shall come again with glory to judge the living and the dead, of whose Kingdom there shall be no end.

And (I believe) in the Holy Ghost, the Lord and Giver of life, who proceeds from the Father (and the Son), who together with the Father and the Son is to be adored and glorified, who spoke by the Prophets. And one holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.

We confess (I confess) one baptism for the remission of sins. And we look for (I look for) the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

sin as speech and in speech through liars always flees the Name of Jesus Christ and attempts to generalize Truth that is exclusive to God as Truth and Jesus Christ into a non-offensive blanket statement that can be felt in multiple ways in abscence of His Name.

Col 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him

In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen

They just don't get it, do they? I am shaking my head at their ignorance of Our Savior.

Could someone translate that into English for me?

consubstantial to the Father

Are you, hiho, Lutheran? You have posted the creed I proclaim, almost exactly, except I say: "being of one substance with the Father"

Nonetheless, your point is good. What specifically did they change and rewrite entirely? They have no right to change the Nicene Creed, but are too ignorant to know this.

Talk about translating into English. This is from their site, also.

What does this mean? I don't think these other religious adherents want the Body of Christ broken for them. And I don't think it can be recieved third party anyway.

We break this bread for those who journey the way of the Hindus, for those who follow the path of the Buddha, for our sisters and brothers of Islam, for the Jewish People from whom we come, and for all those who walk the way of faith.

The minimal creedal confession required of Episcopalians is the Nicene Creed. There is considerable latitude about specifics of doctrine -- far too much for most of us to stomach! -- but if you can't at least affirm the Nicene Creed... well, I'm sure there's a nice Unitarian fellowship down the road.

Shocking and blasphemous!

So I long believed. Until the day the new prayer book took the Credo out of the creed.
