My only immediate response is annoyance at the use of the phrase 'Portuguese Church'. Why do people insist on calling it the American Church, the French Church, etc. For goodness sakes, is it too much to write 'the Church in Portugal', 'the Church in America', 'the Church in France'? Of course, people will respond "thats just semantics" but it really is an important distinction.

Thanks for warning us. You can be sure when the unCatholic Reporter starts testing the waters by floating names of a possible successor to John Paul II,their ccandidate will not bear much resemblance to anything Catholic.
How too bad that in order to get the drums rolling with their own readership, they also have to expose their preferences to those of us thy consider the enemy.
I try to remember to thank God for the internet on a frequent basis, and for Free Republic and the network of informed Catholics we have been able to connect with across the miles.
