Aren't established beliefs or standards dependent upon the individuals' beliefs? Wouldn't what you consider heresy, be different from, say a Hindu?

What really does it matter if someone is deemed to be heretical, anyway?

No. The key word is "established". After Pentecost the Apostles "established" Christ's Church on earth and ensured its continuation and existence through the guiding vehicle of Apostolic succession.

Please, don't get me wrong - it's OK if you want to follow heresy with me. As long as you are honest and acknowledge that the doctrine is in fact heresy/unorthodox. Yes, you create a new reality when you make the unorthodox orthodox but its roots are not orthodox.
