Around the same time as my aunt's 1969 wedding in Houston, is my first recollection of the term "neutron bomb." The priest at the church where she was married -- somewhere near Huntley/Post Oak area, is my guess -- gave the distinct impression this was an unholy weapon in that it was targeted strictly to PEOPLE rather than inanimate objects whose destruction would assure the defeat of the target population (For example, our expending almost our entire arsenal on military and strategic civilian infrastructure (including television stations and such) in Serbia or the turning of the Branch Davidian's church and living quarters into a highly flammable potbelly stove in an effort to "smoke" the yet-surviving adults and children out.

Anyone have more information on the Pope's thinking here? Apologies for not hyperlinking the article in advance or having the time at present to offer more research on which to get started.

The neutron bomb would have killed the Soviet invaders without destroying Germany in the process. Same goes for Israel resisting an invasion. Does that sound ungodly to you?
