To: Land of the Irish
The Blessed Mother was not a sinner. She was conceived without the stain of original sin.

As I study for RCIA to become a Catholic, I think this is the doctrine that will take me, a former Evangelical, the longest to genuinely put my mind around, though. It's just so antithetical to everything I was taught as a child... but I trust that ultimately God wouldn't be so cruel as to strip me of His truth.

As a fellow former Evangelical (of the Presbyterian variety), I will pray for your progress through the RCIA.

I have an essay which I did in seminary that covers some of the Scriptural background for the Immaculate Conception which may be of help to you. Would you like me to post it on this thread?
