Hey. Catch Somverville here:

It is true, as you indicate, that the orbis terrarum Catholic majority accepts the new Catholic order of things. But not by informed judgment (securus judicat).

We Novus Ordo types are just straw-chewin', gap-toothed dupes to the anointed.

Somerville says he "got religion" when he went to Houston, no doubt to hang out with another grandstander, Zigrang.

I have to laugh at Somerville when he laments that this became "public" because Matt published his letters.

What did he expect? Matt thrives on confrontation and this is just the kind of juice he needs for his online rag.

It appears that Somerville has chosen the SSPX. Rome's not going to touch this with a ten-foot pole.

Speak for yourself.

It does seem as though Fr. S. would have us believe that the Christian community of (say) 750 AD were all thoroughly informed of the theological issues, and had carefully weighed all of them, before accepting any Papal documents.

That's a strawman.

In reality, the sensus fidelium has a great deal to do with 'common sense' and very, very LITTLE to do with arguments over arcana.

The Ordinary's 1st and 2nd orders are perhaps unjust. And it is only because I have no direct knowledge of things to even qualify that statement with a "perhaps." So long as he does not declare himself among SSPX, it seems beyond the ordinary's purview to limit who he can have access to. Given his vows of obedience, however, Fr. Somerville is obliged to comply first, then protest, isn't he? Or is there a constitution in his order which limits his need to obedience? If the Ordinary's authority is valid, then it is so even if he misuses it. I am greatly disturbed that Fr. Somerville didn't write something along the lines of "of course I am faithful to the Pope" for the last three questions. I do hope this is born merely of obstinance, but I do not understand how it could be that he doesn't see fit to immediately correct the slander, if it is indeed slander.

That being said, Fr. Somerville plainly lamenting that his letters became public, but rather merely asserting that he did not write them for the purpose of their becoming public. Big difference.
